Happy holidays to all of our wonderful members and visitors. We hope you can savor the season and that it produces some great memories with family and friends!

Special thanks to member JohnF who brought to our attention that our "Communities" newsletter had some serious formatting errors. Unknown to us, some subscribers using Comcast and possibly some other email systems found the newsletter almost impossible to read. To correct this you will see a new look to that newsletter, which you
should receive this Saturday. We apologize for the inconvenience.

What Are The Best Retirement States?
This question is really a highly individual and debatable preference.  To try to be objective about it here are the 15 states at Topretirements that receive the most reader interest - our most popular retirement states. The article also links to retirement guides for these states, plus a few special state-focused articles we've written.

Here's a town we're willing to bet you have never heard of before, unless you are from Maryland. Chesterton has one of America's oldest colleges, it has a rich history as a seaport, and boasts an impressive collection of old homes and buildings.

    Ruidoso, MD
New Mexico is a small state with some very different communities. Ruidoso is a town in the mountains where the average price of a home is below the national average. Ruidoso is also as much a resort town as it is a retirement town (folks from West Texas come here to ski at the Ski Apache resort).

    Ave Maria, FL
We freely admit that we sometimes get over-involved and too enthusiastic in reviewing towns and communities on this site. But on
Ave Maria you will have to believe us - this is a very different community!Created by the devout founder of  Domino's Pizza, Ave Maria is a completely new town built around a university (Ave Maria U.). Human scale and sustainability are guiding principles. It's loaded with great new housing concepts too.

Remember when getting called a yuppie was half compliment, half name-calling?  Since we've moved on from that phase, you might as well take refuge in this mini-site for boomer retirement.
